In ‘Dialectic Unity’, the door represents a transitional space between two cultures. One can infer that either side may belong to one culture or another.
In the viewing of both sides of the door, and through the frame, there is a conversation of access.
The extension of a singular door knob makes the audience unable to close either part of their identity, but also allows them to choose. The image of the deer in the door knobs is inspired by the Korean folktale of “The Fairy and the Woodcutter.”
